AN UPCYCLING STORY

CLIENT SINCE 2022

Upcycling is like the coolest DIY project for Mother Earth! It’s all about taking old, neglected stuff, like that dusty pair of jeans or that forgotten wooden door, and transforming them into fresh, funky, and functional items. The best part? By doing this, we’re not only saving the planet from overflowing landfills but also giving our surroundings a hip, one-of-a-kind makeover. Upcycled goodies are like the rockstars of the eco-world, reducing waste and showing off some serious style. So, let’s turn trash into treasure and have a blast making our world greener and groovier, one repurposed item at a time!

Our team did just this.

In one of our Greystar projects (now many), our team proposed repurposing the construction banner that encircled the developing building into practical totes. This approach achieved several objectives:

✓ Marketing outreach :: Bags that were already scheduled for order were made using materials already generated by the project.

✓ Eco Impact : The banner, which would have otherwise been discarded, was recycled, effectively reducing the project’s waste footprint.

✓ PR : We shared the narrative by attaching a story tag to the bag, demonstrating the property and tote’s commitment to a distinctive community and environmental initiative.

STEP 1.

ASSESSMENT + MOCK-UPS

Materials are sent to us for assessment, where we evaluate their condition and potential for creating the items you desire. We then create mock-ups to provide a visual representation of the project. However, it’s important to note that each item is unique because the appearance of the bag depends on the specific section of the banner (or other material) that is utilized.

STEP 2.

FABRIC SAMPLE + SHAPES

Before production begins, we create preproduction samples using the reclaimed materials, sometimes exploring various silhouettes for evaluation.

STEP 3.

FINALIZE item + HANG TAG

These bags typically don’t have prominent branding; occasionally, a small logo or sewn tag is included. However, the crucial step involves adding a hang tag that tells the essential story of the tote’s second life. This is where we convey to the recipient the history of what the bag once was and the role the client played in making it’s second life happen!

STEP 4.

PRODUCTION + DELIVERY

Within a span of 3-4 weeks, the reimagined materials are en route, kickstarting the exciting journey of giving the fencing a second lease on life!
